Want to play a Donald Trump golf course on Saturdays and Sundays, while dodging Secret Service agents?
No problem! Those who want to can take advantage of special access and low fee prices at a few resort-like courses in the area.
In June, according to the BBC, Lincolnshire Golf released its first-ever “signature package” allowing luxury golfers to play a Trump golf course on the weekends or whenever they want. In fact, a Trump course was the only property that was being offered, though others are planning to do the same.
Usually, the public has access to a handful of courses in the area, but beyond those, there’s literally no way to get more than that. But a partnership with the The Woodlands, a development near Fort Worth, Texas, is expanding access to Trump golf courses in North Carolina.
The original idea was to build two courses in the northwest of the state, but a partnership with The Woodlands made it possible to open a third there, according to the Associated Press. The Woodlands is where the Trump National Golf Club-Scotland in Course Superintendent Tim Waters lives.
On Twitter, Waters and “storm chaser” Michael Wilkinson waxed poetic about the brand new championship course:
I’ve spent all of my life hunting & killing elk and grizzly bears. This beautiful new home makes me a father. The only thing I miss is son to watch my elk. pic.twitter.com/LGLHxkka70 — Michael Wilkinson (@StormChaserWC5) October 4, 2018
Hearing of #TrumpNational is fabulous. Scott Stump and I spend most of our time in general vicinity, so this is a nice change to play there on your off days. Thoughts & prayers to the Royals. pic.twitter.com/bM72zNTyD3 — Scott Stump (@ScottStumpGC) October 4, 2018
Stump, whose company “handle[s] the messaging and security for Trump’s world,” could bring golfers out to see the “killer shotmaking” of the course, according to the Detroit Free Press. The resort reportedly has a “load-bearing wall which is extremely strong. We have a lot of land with wide open spaces … that you can learn to golf on.”
