The death of an 18-year-old man in Brampton on Wednesday night has been identified by police.
Officers said they responded to reports of a shooting at a family home on Malcolm Street around 11.15pm on Wednesday.
When they arrived, officers and paramedics found the teenager in his room, bleeding from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead a short time later at Peel Regional Police Service headquarters.
Const. Vanessa Ogden told reporters on Thursday afternoon police have not arrested a suspect and “we do not know at this time what direction the investigation is going.”
She added “we are continuing to examine video in the area and are actively canvassing the local neighbourhood.”
Ogden urged anyone with information about the shooting to call the homicide bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1410, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Thursday night, family and friends gathered at the scene to pay their respects.
Members of the local community joined them for a candlelight vigil to remember the teenager.
